Henrique Veiga Fernandes wins two international scientific prizes on the same day
Researcher Henrique Veiga Fernandes, of the Institute of Molecular Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon, won two international scientific awards along with his team.
He received a Proof of Concept Grant awarded by the European Research Council in the amount of 150 thousand euros, and an award by the US Kenneth Rainin Foundation amounting to 100 thousand euros.
The European Grant intends to support the development of a treatment that can change stem cell transplantations, making them a more effective therapy.
As for the prize awarded by the American Foundation, it will help to better understand the role played by a molecule produced in the gut that determines the evolution of Chron’s disease. Researcher Henrique Veiga Fernandes, a specialist in Immunobiology, was the only non-American to receive an award by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation.
