British Jonathan Howard, 69, will be the new director of Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (Gulbenkian Institute of Science - IGC), starting in October this year. He will replace António Coutinho, Director since 1991. This will also be a year in which the IGC ensures greater autonomy from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The Institute is essentially devoted to biomedical research.
