FMUL News
Academic Area News Brief – New features available online
1. Virtual Registry
During the current academic year, the Academic Unit – Academic Career Management (GPA) will implement a feature – the Virtual Registry - that will enable students to request several academic services that up to now need to be done in person. These services, such as requests to re-sit exams for purposes of upgrading marks or requests of several types of certificates, which require prior registration or request at the GPA and corresponding payment of a fee at the Fees Office, will be able to be requested online and paid for using a reference number for payment at any ATM. The implementation of this service will reduce bureaucracy procedures and the need for students to physically go to the services, in addition to contributing to the improvement and administrative streamlining of these areas.
2. Online applications – Mobility Programmes
With a view to improving and updating the functional structure of International Cooperation, from the next academic year incoming students (international students doing a mobility period at FMUL) must submit their applications online and use a form available at the Faculty Portal. This measure will enable the provision of a more efficient service and the creation of a database that will allow rigorous management of the flow of mobile students at our institution.
3. Room booking
As part of the Digital FMUL project and aiming at expediting the room booking process in our institution, the procedure for changing room reservation forms from PDF to a PDF editable format has started, thus enabling forms to be submitted automatically after being filled. It is expected that this will make room and amphitheatre booking in the Faculty of Medicine a faster process, thus contributing to improved quality of the services provided by the Academic Area.
