FMUL welcomes new students
At the start of a new academic year, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) welcomed its 327 first-year new students with the initiative “Welcome and Enrolment of 1st Year Students”, which took place in the period 13-17 September and involved orienting them as they enrolled, and providing them with useful information. As they arrived at FMUL, freshers were welcomed by our mascot “Fmulito” and by staff and students, who guided them to the enrolment room located at the Egas Moniz Building. In the room, a team helped them enroll online, and they were handed the fesher’s kit – a folder with the enrolment forms, a bag with information materials and an usb stick with a multimedia guide containing useful information about FMUL.
After enrolling, the new students were invited to visit an area displaying several exhibition stands: the was a stand of the Students’ Association of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (AEFML), where new students sorted out their membership cards and colleagues from more advanced years gave them useful information for their academic lives; there was the BES (Banco Espírito Santo) stand, where they were able to obtain their FMUL card: there was another stand representing Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), where they could request their University of Lisbon (UL) membership card; the Library stand, where they managed to obtain further information about the services available and request the access card; the was also the lockers stand, where they had the opportunity of making a preliminary registration in order to obtain one; the FMUL information stand, which provided them with useful information about the faculty and enabled them to submit queries; the Molecular Medicine Institute stand, which gave students their first contact with one of the key laboratories in the country; and the Carris stand, where they became familiar with the Mobcarsharing service.
This initiative thus had the purpose of saying to freshers: Welcome to FMUL!
