In October, the Office for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon will launch an innovative programme, aiming to bring university students closer to real health contexts. This will allow them to recognize the challenges and create solutions that can impact the daily lives of those who work in these services and the patients who seek them.
In this 1st edition, the programme, based on the Design Thinking methodology, centred on reality, will allow students to know the reality of three medical specialties: Paediatrics, Urology and Ophthalmology, through immersive videos and various procedures, with interviews with doctors, service directors and other health professionals, filmed in real context.
In addition, they will have the opportunity to develop ideas as a team, gaining knowledge and tools in the area of management and entrepreneurship through a series of “Tools for Innovation” workshops, with access to personalized mentoring by clinical and management experts. The projects will be later presented in a pitch in the presence of a specialized jury.
One of the differentiating characteristics of this project is its multidisciplinarity: in addition to students from the Faculty of Medicine, students from other Faculties of Ulisboa and also from other Lusophone Faculties of Medicine (Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking countries) will be able to participate, as the best ideas result from different contexts and knowledge, leading to successful innovation projects.
Registration opens on 23 August and students can register individually or as a team.
