Despite the pandemic situation created by Covid-19, the GAPIC 2020 competitions were strongly supported by FMUL students.
In the 5th edition of the GAPIC David-Ferreira Award competition, which distinguishes the best Final Works/Theses of the IMDM 2019/2020, 27 applications were submitted, almost doubling the number of those presented last year, and the following works were distinguished:
- Award – "Fluoroquinolones are associated with increased risk of aortic aneurysm or dissection: systematic review and meta-analysis" | Nuno Vouga Ribeiro;
- 1st Honourable Mention (ex aequo) – "Physiological dynamics of patients approached by a medicalized pre-hospital team at São José Hospital | Vitória Rita Ramilo Gomes Pereira Cadete;
- 1st Honourable Mention (ex aequo) – "Metabolic resuscitation in septic shock” | David Gonçalves Paixão;
- 2nd Honourable Mention – “Ocular and systemic risk markers for development of Macular Oedema and Proliferative Retinopathy in Type 2 Diabetes. A five-year longitudinal study” | António Henrique Cunha-Vaz Martinho.
The awards were presented on 9 December, during Research Day, by Professor João Ferreira, former coordinator of GAPIC, and the works presented publicly by the respective students.
We remind you that the competition for the GAPIC David-Ferreira Award is held annually, and applications for the 6th edition are open (2020/2021).
