
Professor Fausto Pinto, Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), commented on the statements made by Minister Manuel Heitor in an interview to Diário de Notícias, in which the minister expressed the expectation of having new medical degrees in Medicine at the universities of Aveiro, Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and Évora.
"Medical training in Portugal does not involve new schools or increases in the number of places, because this will do nothing to solve the problem of the supposed shortage of doctors", said the Professor, adding that the new degrees are an "obsession" of Manuel Hector.
