Prof. Pedro Oliveira e Prof.ª Lia Neto

Professors Pedro Oliveira and Lia Neto were elected President and Vice-President, respectively, of the Portuguese Anatomical Society. It is the oldest Scientific Society on the Iberian Peninsula and brings together anatomists from the various Portuguese Medical Schools.

The Portuguese Anatomical Society is the oldest active Scientific Society in Morphological Sciences on the Iberian Peninsula and maintains close scientific collaboration with its counterparts through the International Federation of Associations of Anatomy.

The Portuguese Anatomical Society promotes, through scientific meetings and the publication of Archives of Anatomy, the divulgation of the work carried out in the different Portuguese Anatomy Institutes and Departments and gives continuity to the work of expanding the knowledge in Morphological Sciences.

Its members are specialists and interested in research and teaching of the anatomical sciences.

The new duo will be part of the Board, as President and Vice-President, which will lead the destinies of this Scientific Society for the next two years.

Despite being a small scientific society, it has the important role of disseminating and promoting the morphological sciences, including anatomy, which is one of the basic sciences essential for the teaching of medicine.
