Being the leading cause of death worldwide, cardiovascular diseases continue to be on the agenda a central theme in the specialty’s major publications.
President of the World Heart Federation and Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, Fausto J. Pinto wrote the editorial for the American Journal of Physiology, precisely to reinforce the importance of continuing to celebrate World Heart Day.
In the strategies designed by the WHT for 2021–2023, solidarity and connectivity are the two key ideas that aim to use digital communication. The goal is to keep the medical community close to people, raising awareness of health preventive actions.
To be celebrated on 29 September, World Heart Day wishes to remember and prevent premature death from cardiovascular disease. For this reason, the world is raising awareness of this issue this month through the largest health campaign ever. The intention is to improve the lifestyle of the population and in a few years reduce the death rate to 33%.
