Anatomy Institute of FMUL produces visors for Health Professionals

We are going through a complex public health situation globally.

Using the resources at its disposal, the 3D Printing Group of the Lisbon School of Medicine (FMUL) has been working every day in an attempt to find solutions to help mainly Hospital Santa Maria (HSM), Lisbon, to satisfy some of the your daily needs.

In this sense, and in a first stage, Visors for Health Professionals are being produced at the Institute of Anatomy of FMUL.

Accompanied by a word of strength for the times to come, the first 50 Visors have already been delivered to some of the HSM Services, as an example we list the Intensive Care Services.

We will continue our mission trying to reach, whenever possible, HSM Services as well as other hospitals in Lisbon, which we know are also weakened.

Visors are produced using PETg filament, for printing the supports, and 0.75mm Polycarbonate sheets, for face protection. All production is carried out in compliance with the hygiene conditions necessary for a product that will enter the hospital. If this did not happen, we would be inducing a false security in the professionals and possibly aggravating the situation we are experiencing.

This initiative is exempt from any monetary value for the recipients. In this sense, we can not fail to highlight the enormous contribution of Mauser, which promptly provided us with PETg filament necessary to continue with this initiative, and of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, which was immediately available to cut the plates Polycarbonate and will also help us with the production of the supports. Our sincere thanks to these associates.

To all of you, Together we made it.
