More And Better
GAPIC: The Student Perspective
Students of the FMUL have always been driven by a relentless will to explore the dimension of scientific and clinical research, supplementing the core curriculum of the Integrated Master's in Medicine. In the long term, this contributes to the training of doctors who are more informed and are better able to stand out on an international level, without forgetting that it can even radically contribute to many of their careers being dedicated to research.
This interest and will to go further on the part of students of the FMUL has been materialised, largely thanks to the work done by the Faculty, and more tangibly, by GAPIC. During the 30th Anniversary of the Scientific and Technological Research and Innovation Support Bureau, we should extol the history that has brought us to the present and all the effort that diverse teams that make up this Bureau have been working for students, innovation and the enrichment of medical and scientific training at our Faculty. Currently, when GAPIC is talked about, whether in the Common Room or in the hallways and Faculty lecture theatres, students view the activities and incentives promoted by this organisation with enormous satisfaction.
During GAPIC's 30th Anniversary celebrations, we highlight the close collaboration that has been developed with the Lisbon Faculty of Medicine Student Association (AEFML), whose main focus is the combined initiative of the FMUL Research Day which has been running annually since 2012. Over the last few years, the AEFML has been strengthening its institutional relations with GAPIC, which has been reflected in a greater connection and higher participation from students in activities run by the Bureau. In the next academic year, 2019/2020, the AEFML aims to further consolidate this partnership with GAPIC. As such, we will continue to promote and support the Bureau's activities and emphasise the establishment of greater financial support for scientific and clinical research, by awarding new prizes to the winning students of the FMUL Research Day 2019, thus supplementing the visionary and historic "Education through Science" Programme, which has now been running for 22 years.
Congratulations to GAPIC, as the AEFML wishes this project the greatest success, with the confidence that this partnership will remain strong and with the future goal of continuing to serve the Faculty and the students of the FMUL.
