“Education through Science" Programme - GAPIC, 30 years Promoting Science
The "Education through Science" Programme (PEC) was created in 1997 as a programme of support for undergraduate students to conduct scientific research. Through the PEC, students participate directly in outlining and executing laboratory or clinical research projects, as part of a team made up of the FMUL's research unit, the Institute of Molecular Medicine (iMM) or the Santa Maria Hospital (HSM), under supervision of a tutor
In 2015, the PEC was reinforced by CHULN/FMUL Grants, funded by the CHULN, and allocated to projects with a predominant clinical component, to carry out at CHULN Clinics and Laboratories.
Over 23 editions, the PEC has allowed over 500 students (522) to undertake research projects (503), from conception and developing an original hypothesis, to designing experiments, to constructing and submitting an online application for peer review, carrying out the project with tutor supervision and as part of a research team, and finally the public results presentation at the FMUL Research Day and writing a final report as a scientific article.
Applications for the 23rd "Education through Science" Programme | CHULN/FMUL Grants will be open from 1st to 30th September.
