Ciência Viva launched a new volume of the book "Women in Science" on International Women's Day. The launching ceremony took place at the Pavilion of Knowledge and was attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato and the Prime Minister, António Costa.

The book pays tribute to women scientists through a compilation of 100 portraits of Portuguese researchers from different areas of knowledge and generations.

The book's preface is by Minister Elvira Fortunato, who, for the first time, is participating in this editorial project with which she is associated, aiming to defend gender equality on which the development of a more prosperous, fair, diverse, and balanced society is based.

The book "Women in Science", to be published in 2016, 2019 and 2021, has contributed to demonstrating the importance of women scientists in various aspects of society, the economy and science, inspiring young students who want to pursue a scientific career.

In this new volume, FMUL has more names: Luísa Vaqueiro Lopes and Helena Cortez-Pinto. The former is a neuroscientist and studies the Neurobiology of Aging as Group Leader of the iMM.
